Bishop David founded OSL in 2009, following a direction from the Lord to ‘open the old wells’. He is widely considered a contemporary father of the faith, and pioneered one of the UK’s largest churches in 1972. Over 50 years’ in Christian leadership saw him pastor his church of 2,000 congregants in the Heart of England, plant regional churches, and serve as National and European overseer for large denominations.
He has spoken at churches and conferences across the globe, partnered with churches in East Africa reaching over a million people, is regularly invited to provide media commentary on TV and radio, and has published many books on important Christian subjects. He prayed over the Archbishop of York at his investiture in 2005, met with Pope Francis at the Vatican, and was awarded an OBE in 2016 by Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite honours and accolades, his heart for people has always been central to his ministry. Today, as well as leading OSL, you will find him investing in the future of ministers with training and mentoring, preaching weekly, and still maintaining his chaplaincy rounds at the local hospital.
