In Matthew 25 Jesus is talking about separating sheep and goats with the sheep receiving an inheritance.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Jesus instructs us to make disciples but also to serve Him by meeting the needs of the poor, sick and disenfranchised.
Since 2009, OSL has reached out both in the UK and abroad in obedience to this challenge from Jesus. We have worked in many nations including India, Pakistan, Bulgaria and Kenya through a diverse range of projects. Examples include: support for churches, schools and orphanages, leadership development and training, Bible translation and printing, famine and flood relief, evangelism programmes, creating a safe haven for refugees and sponsoring Bible school students.
None of this can happen without support. All contributions will be gratefully received and go directly to the work of OSL. For many years the Lord has led us to invest in Christians from all over East Africa through sponsoring their theological studies in a Bible school in Mbale, Kenya.
We have an extraordinary number of testimonies of the fruit of this ministry:
Bishop Daniel Olomunyak was one of the first students we sponsored in 2009. He now oversees 17 in churches in ‘Arise and Shine’ ministry in the heart of Maasai land.
Pastor Zephaniah graduated 2 years ago and has already planted 2 churches in Narok.
To date, over 200 students have benefitted from this support with over 90% continuing in ministry as pastors, deacons, interpreters, Sunday school leaders, church planters and even as missionaries to other countries like Sudan.
The current cost of sponsorship is £720 per student per year which covers everything (tuition, food and accommodation). This equates to £60.00 per month. To sponsor a Maasai student is £800/year (£67/month) due to extra transport costs. In 2025, OSL sponsored 10 students including 3 Maasai; Samson, Daniel and Matthew.

When in Kenya, we have received really encouraging testimonies from the students we have sponsored. This has included personal testimonies from a number of Maasai as to how God instantly opened their understanding to be able to read and understand the Bible despite them being illiterate at the time!

In the words of Jesus “the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.” (John 4:36 ESV)
